Embroidery machines
Embroidery machines are specialised sewing machines that reproduce patterns, logos, texts and complex decorative motifs on fabric through sequences of stitches positioned with extreme precision by a software-controlled XY coordinate system. Unlike traditional sewing, the embroidery stitch deposits coloured threads on the fabric surface, forming dense and three-dimensional patterns, with effects that can imitate hand embroidery or create textures impossible to achieve by hand.
Machines range from single-head consumer models (Janome, Brother, Pfaff) with hoops up to 20×28 cm, ideal for personalising individual pieces, to industrial multi-head systems (6, 12, 24 heads) that simultaneously embroider dozens of garments. Digitising software converts vector images into embroidery files (PES, DST, EXP) that define stitch density, fill direction and colour order. In the maker context, embroidery machines are the tool of choice for personalising clothing, accessories and bags.
