Cutting — illustrazione di categoria

Cutting processes represent a crucial stage in manufacturing, aimed at separating or sectioning a material to obtain precise profiles, shapes or segments. This category embraces a wide range of technologies, spanning from mechanical methods to the most advanced thermal ones. At the basis of sheet-metal working we find the use of shears and punching machines, which exploit pure mechanical force and sharpened dies to divide or pierce metal with extremely high industrial productivity. Moving on to thermal processes, hot-wire cutting is instead the solution of choice for materials such as foamed polymers: an incandescent metal filament melts the matter along its path, guaranteeing smooth edges without producing dust or residue. For more complex industrial needs, high-energy-density technologies dominate: laser cutting uses a concentrated beam of light to pass through a wide range of materials while guaranteeing a level of detail and micrometric precision, whereas plasma cutting relies on a jet of ionized gas at very high temperature, proving unbeatable for rapidly sectioning conductive metals even of great thickness. Thanks to this array of solutions, cutting processes manage to perfectly combine versatility, execution speed and maximum edge cleanliness.
